The second game of the trip would require the Spartans to drive about an hour south down to San Marcos where the would take on the Cougars in their home turf. Things get off to an extremely rocky start for the Spartans as they fall 0-5 at the end of the first quarter. However, the Spartans do not give up and put 2 points on the board by the end of the half, making the game a 2-7 game. When halftime rolled around, Team Captain Dominic Garaventa reminded his fellow Spartans that they must fight every second of the game if they want to win. The Spartans take his advice and score more than the Cougars during the 3rd quarter, putting in 4 goals while the cougars put in 3. If there's one thing every Spartan understood is that the game of lacrosse could change in the blink of an eye, and being down by 4 goals with 15 minutes remaining is a real blessing. The Spartans Offensive, led by Freshmen Midfielder Cody Gradone, puts in an addition 2 goals before the final whistle blows, but it's too little too late. The Spartans fall to Cal State San Marcos 13-8 in a great, high intensity game.
We look forward to playing the Cougars again soon, and wish them the best of luck with the rest of their season.
