It's official! Spartan Esports announces its Valorant roster for the fall semester and it's looking to be one of the school's strongest esports teams. The roster for the team includes Kevin "Choiboi" Choi, Thienen "Teddy" Tran, Lenny "Lenny" Lin, Brandon "Thig" Wright and Eishan "Nahsie" Jaffer.
Every member of the team is ranked Radiant, with the exception of Nahsie who is ranked Immortal 3. To announce the full roster reveal, Spartan Esports created a video highlighting each player on the agents they are known for.
This roster has seen success in the past, recently taking first place in the NACCS x NACL Road to Power Pugs Tournament that took place at the end of last month. The tournament featured 64 teams from across the nation with tough competition like UCLA and UC Irvine.
So far it's looking like SJSU's Valorant team is going to be one of the more dominant teams in the collegiate scene with its current roster. Strong team chemistry and high skill sets are what make this team one of the top contenders for this semester.
Teddy feels confident that his team can make it far in the tournaments and events that they are looking at for this semester and talked about how teamwork is a crucial part of their success.
"We haven't had any problems with team chemistry," he said. "We all understand that we can let out what we feel is wrong and talk about what's not working and focus on what we need to fix."
He also mentioned that he's looking forward to games against rival teams UCLA and UCI in upcoming competitions this semester.
Thig, who transferred to SJSU this year, says he joined the team on a whim and had no idea that he would be part of what some are saying is the best Valorant team in the state.
"I was a Counter Strike player and then Valorant came out so I asked to see if there was going to be a team for it," he said. "I didn't realize the team was so good and it's kind of funny that we have such a stacked roster with four Radiant players."
Thig also said that if they play the right way, he hopes to win every league and go on to become one of the best Valorant teams in the country.
