San José State University (3-2) men's lacrosse put up a dominant second half display
against UC Santa Cruz (3-2) on Saturday evening, leading to a 9-5 win. The game was tied 5-5 at halftime, but the Spartans completely shut out UC Santa Cruz in the second, leading to the commanding win with crucial playoff implications. Additionally, the victory was shared with several alumni who came out for the Spartans' annual alumni weekend.
The lock-down defense was led by goalie
Gavin Gannod, who rocked a 73% save percentage for the night, along with defensive-midfielder
Adam Mace, who won 5 ground balls. On the offensive half, six Spartans put up points against UC Santa Cruz, led by
Aaron Escobar and
Max Oshetski, with two goals apiece.
